Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (Colossians 4:2)
Throughout the Bible, God’s instruction to his people is clear: we are to devote ourselves to prayer. Why? Because prayer is our channel to God, our way of sharing our hearts and lives with him. Although we know prayer is important, we don’t get around to it until we’ve tried everything else.
Although prayer is our natural response to God and vital in the life of faith, too many believers neglect the practice of daily prayer in all circumstances. Just like any other faith activity, like worship or Bible reading, it’s not enough to think about prayer, or believe in prayer—we have to pray!
Do you want to deepen your relationship to God? Start with prayer, led by the examples that God himself gives us in the Bible.
In this 15-day series, pastor John Koedyker looks at the practice of prayer. We start with what the Bible teaches about prayer. Then we will look at prayers found in the Bible that serve as models for our own prayers.
