Read: Galatians 2:11-21
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (v. 20)
In chapter 2 of Galatians, we see how Paul stresses his call to preach the gospel, without any compromise and without leaving anything out. Paul rebuked Peter (Cephas) and others for teaching that there was still a division in the gospel between Jews and Gentiles—a division that Peter also rejected eventually (Acts 10:34-35). Paul emphasizes that there is no bias in God and he does not look at the outward appearance of man, his achievements, fame or status. He looks at our hearts to see if they are opened to the truth and committed to that truth. We have been justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law (Rom. 7:4).
Too often, human rules, and cultural and religious traditions suffocate the believer so as not to live the life of the true Gospel—that of freedom in Christ. So what is our part in the wonderful work of Christ?
By being crucified with Christ, our old sinful life, human and religious rules are dead so that we can live by wearing the character of Jesus Christ and following his lead and his example in every aspect of our life. And we are resurrected with Christ in a life freed by the law.
As you pray, ask God to help you live according to the truth of the Gospel.
