Fall on us. (Rev. 6:16)
During the communist period in Albania, the government destroyed churches and mosques, thinking that religion was the enemy of communism. They also built small defensive bunkers all over the country. After the fall of communism in the 1990s, the church of Christ has thrived, and the bunkers were abandoned. This bitter recollection brings us to the prophet Obadiah. The Edomites built their bunkers in the mountains, among the rocks, to be safe from the enemy.
Today we find this same Edomite spirit in the family, the church and society. As believers, we should fight daily against temptations that lead us away from Christ, the Bible, prayer, church, or our witness (1 John 2:16). We must not love the world, the Bible says, nor boast in ourselves, nor in power, wealth, and fame. Christ should be the King of our hearts. He is our hope and future.
Therefore, let us seek God’s righteousness and kingdom to reign in our hearts. Is Christ the Rock of your life and your family? Surrender it to him and work for him until his return. People in the end times will have an Edomite spirit. Now they think they are invincible, but in the last days, when God’s wrath will come, they will hide and will say to the mountains and the rocks “fall on us” (Rev. 6:15-16). As for us, let’s continue to stand and build on the Rock that is Christ.
As you pray, remember the proud, that they would humble themselves and seek Christ before he returns.
