Sewing a Future

Sarah had always been a woman of faith, but losing her job tested her resilience. As the sole provider for her family, she was overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty.

One Sunday, she attended a church service in Kanungu, Uganda, where the pastor preached on Genesis 7:1: “Then the LORD said to Noah, ‘Go into the ark, you and your entire household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation.”

The pastor explained how God provided refuge for Noah because of his faith and obedience, assuring the congregation that God would do the same for them. Inspired by the sermon, Sarah put her faith in God completely. She prayed for guidance on her next steps.

Sarah discovered a Words of Hope Uganda community program that empowered individuals through skill development and job placement. She put her faith in God and enrolled in sewing and knitting classes. The training was intensive, but Sarah was determined to learn and grow in her skills. She excelled and received a stipend during her training, which helped alleviate some of her financial burdens.

After completing the program, Sarah was offered a job with a local company. Her new job not only provided financial stability but also reignited her passion for learning and growth. Her determination and passion for her work earned her a promotion to group leader.

Reflecting on the sermon she had heard, Sarah saw herself in Noah’s story—facing a flood of challenges but finding refuge through faith and perseverance. Her journey became a testament to God’s faithfulness.

Today, Sarah volunteers with the Words of Hope program, mentoring others and sharing her story. She reminds them that no matter how challenging life’s storms may seem, there is always a path to renewal for those who trust in God.
