Read: Acts 5:1-11
Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. (Gal. 5:16 NLT)
When I first started writing, I hated editing. However, the more I write, the greater my appreciation for editing. Now I enjoy running what I write through editing tools that show me what I need to work on. Those electronic editors are great, but there is nothing better than feedback from human editors.
You do not need to write to know the importance of people guiding you. Throughout our lives, we have mentors helping to “edit” our lives. The best life-editor is the Holy Spirit. In Galatians, Paul asks his readers to let the Holy Spirit be their guide. Many times, we pay no attention to his nudging. In Acts, Ananias and Sapphira found themselves in a deadly situation when they disregarded the Spirit’s leadership. They were a part of the first church. All the believers in Jesus agreed to sell everything and pool their resources for the gospel efforts. Instead of letting the Spirit guide them, this couple lied about the money they received from a property they sold, and when confronted they both fell down and died.
We may not face deadly consequences for not letting the Holy Spirit “edit” our lives, but life will be better when we follow his guidance. When we follow the third person of the Trinity, he will keep us from sinning, guide us into the truth, and help us understand God. Now that is a great editor for life!
As you pray, ask the Lord to help you be more open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
