Return of the White Horse Rider

Read: Revelation 19:11-21

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. (2 Cor. 2:14)

Suddenly the Bridegroom appears! The Warrior-King with the penetrating eyes, the Rider on the White Horse. We saw him in Revelation 6, riding out alone right after his coronation. Then all who knew his name fit into one upper room. But many more soon followed him (Acts 2).

He returns with many crowns. Now billions know he is the Word of God, the eternal One who became Jesus! (John 1:1-14). His followers testify he is “Faithful and True.” His blood-dipped robe and thigh (14:17-20) display his title, “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

He returns with more troops than you could count. Today more than two billion claim his name, but many of them do not know him. His loyal troops all wear white and ride white horses. They are “armies of heaven,” redeemed ex-rebels, “called, chosen and faithful.” All are conquerors (Rev. 2; 3; 12:11, 17). They “follow the Lamb wherever he goes.” Angels come with him too (2 Thess. 1:7-8).

But the wedding is not yet. (His armies are also the Bride.) Two more visions will give us descriptions of that last battle, revealing new aspects. Jesus is not just our Warrior-King. He is the supreme Ruler of the whole universe, the Lord of creation and of history. —Ruth Siemens

As you pray, ask God to help you follow him with unwavering commitment.
