The Voice / West Africa
Where some see a wilderness, Words of Hope broadcasters see fertile ground for the gospel.
A Voice in the Wilderness
Some could call the West African countries of Benin, Niger, and Nigeria a geographic and spiritual wilderness. This opinion is based on high rates of poverty, the encroaching Sahara desert and (in Nigeria especially) Muslim-Christian conflict.
However, there is much more to this area than these struggles. Words of Hope and its partners are using radio to amplify the voices of local Christians in West Africa. Church plants continue to spring up in even the most remote villages thanks to these broadcasts. Broadcasts in French reach educated leaders and academics in Niger. Messages in Hausa and Bariba reach common people in hundreds of villages throughout the region.
Our West African ministries have their profound challenges, but also opportunities for the gospel message to flourish. With continued diligence and prayer, we believe they will continue to bear fruit. To learn more, please visit the ministry and country links found at right.
