The Voice / Middle East / Arabic

Background

Words of Hope partners with the Middle East Reformed Fellowship (MERF) and Back to God Ministries International (of the Christian Reformed Church) to broadcast Arabic radio programs 30 minutes every night via powerful AM stations in southern France to North Africa and Cyprus to the Middle East.

The programs inspire listeners to re-examine spiritual beliefs they have inherited from families and communities. “By God’s grace,” shares the Arabic ministry director, “this has established a major impetus into outreach among Muslim people. This now represents the largest [Christian] broadcasting ministry in the Arabic language, with responses from every nation in the 22 nations of the Arab League and beyond, even from Arab communities in southern Italy and southern France, in Spain, Greece, Turkey and southwestern Iran. It is thrilling to see how the Lord has provided gifted believers from the different nations to lead the work of indigenous missions.”

Ministry Updates

Summer 2009 The daily 30-minute Arabic broadcasts are proving very fruitful in building up the listenership. “We can give thanks for the Lord’s timely provision of Arabic broadcast teams who are not only young, energetic and hard-working Christians, but also aware of the nature of our audience,” states one broadcaster. “It is exciting to see them constantly exchanging thoughts on effectively proclaiming to both open-minded Muslims and the more hardened fanatical ones God’s grace in Christ.”

Listener Responses

"By coincidence I listened to one of your discourses. What I heard convinced me to continue to listen and led me to keep looking for a copy of an Arabic Holy Bible. Now I have a Christian friend who takes me with him to a church. He too wants to have a deeper knowledge of the Christian teachings."

“I have not missed one of your programs for more than two months. Every day I learn more about Jesus and become more convinced that the inherited religion of my family (Islam) is not good for the people of the world. Deep in my heart I am now a Christian. I am not very sure, but I think my sister and mother love Jesus too.”
