Help buy wind-up radios for people who do not have access to reliable electricity.
Words of HOPE broadcasts Gospel radio programs to people in some of the most remote areas of the world. But what good are these programs if people cannot hear them? In many of our broadcast areas, people do not have access to reliable electricity. In some of these places, solar power is the only option, and that is very expensive. So for the past two years, Words of HOPE has been distributing wind up radios to these needy populations.
The radios require no batteries or external power source, but feature an internal battery charged by turning a crank on the side of the receiver. Words of HOPE staff present these radios to listeners and encourage them to invite family and friends to listen with them to Christian programs broadcast in their own language. Such “listening groups” may eventually form the nucleus for a new congregation. Frequent reports of this happening indicate how Christian radio is fueling church growth in many places around the world.
We encourage you to consider supporting this project. It has a direct impact on people’s ability to hear the programs and share them with others. $40 provides a radio. But it also includes in-country distribution, program promotion, and even a bit for program production.
